By taking part in international activities Byggnads wishes to show solidarity in aiding building workers all over the world to achieve a stronger position and better conditions of existence.
Our international work is focused on the neighbouring region around the Baltic. We maintain intensive contacts with our nearest neighbours in the former Eastern Europe.
International co-operation at a global, European and Nordic level
The major part of Byggnads’ international work is conducted in co-operation with BWI (The Building and Wood Workers International) in the world at large, with the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW) in Europe and with the Nordic Federation of Building and Woodworkers (NBTF) in the Nordic area.
The President of Byggnads, Hans Tilly, is also President of the NBTF and member of the executive committees of the EFBWW and BWI.
Byggnads’ Solidarity Fund
Byggnads has its own Solidarity Fund which we can use to support fraternal organisations around the world.
In 2003 more than 80 per cent of the income from the Fund was used for activities in our neighbouring region around the Baltic. With the aid of the Solidarity Fund we have also been able to support our own projects by sending out expert representatives to Chile, Latvia and Russia.
